Agropur through the decades

We're in 1937. L.-A. Mondou, an agronomist in the Granby region, approaches Omer Deslauriers, a young farmer already actively involved in the community, and proposes his idea of founding a regional cooperative. On August 24, 1938, the Société coopérative agricole du Canton de Granby, which would become Agropur, coopérative agro-alimentaire in 1979 and Agropur cooperative in 2000, is born. Comprising 86 producers from Granby and the surrounding area, it goes against the trend of the time whereby cooperatives operate very locally. Already, its position is clear: borders will not stand in the way of its development.
