Better dairy. Better World: Fontaine family featured in Agropur’s new video campaign

Meet the Fontaine family of Weedon, Quebec, a brother-sister team running a family farm that has seen more than six generations of dairy farmers.

The Fontaines are parents of young children, proud members of Agropur, and bold entrepreneurs. When they took over the family farm, they were eager to introduce cutting-edge methods. For one thing, they switched to robotic milking. That move helped them get to know their cows better and achieve the highest standards of dairy production.

It also improved animal health and welfare considerably. Automation makes it possible for the cows to be milked when they want. Milk output tripled and the milk is of higher quality.

Automation also made it possible for the young parents to have more flexible schedules and spend more time with their families. This brother-sister duo is determined to continue developing the family farm so they can hand it down to the next generation in their turn.

For 80 years, Agropur has been supporting the member dairy farmers who help drive the economies of rural communities across the country. “There’s a lot of pride in being part of Agropur,” says the elder Mr. Fontabel in the video. “It means jobs in your village, in your community. Buying Agropur means buying local.”
