Providence is a soft, washed-rind, surface-ripened cheese that is enhanced by the fruity flavour of its edible rind. Named for the unshakeable faith of the Trappist Monks who refused to give up even during the darkest hours, Providence was born under a lucky star in May 2002, just like the first Oka cheese which will celebrate its 120th birthday in 2013. |

For several decades, Agropur's cheddar has enjoyed an enviable reputation among its industrial customers and on international markets. It was originally through private brands, acting as supplier to some large food chains, that the Cooperative made its first inroads in the retail market. In October 2001, it made a further step in this direction by launching a new line of fine cheddars under the Cooperative's own brand name, Canadian Reserve. Soon customers were clamouring for this award-winning cheese. |
