Agropur commits to Dairy Methane Action Alliance

Agropur is proud to announce that it’s now part of the Dairy Methane Action Alliance, a consortium of companies dedicated to fighting climate change by reducing dairy methane emissions.
In joining the Alliance, Agropur has committed to publicly measuring and disclosing methane emissions from our supply chain and publishing action plans to reduce emissions over time.
Agropur is one of North America’s largest dairy processors and recognizes that collaborating with our partners is essential to achieving our common sustainability goals. About 95% of our greenhouse gas emissions come from our value chain. The Cooperative is therefore working to support the sustainable development initiatives of our members, dairy farmers and customers in effort to reduce those emissions.
The DMAA was created by the Environmental Defense Fund in 2023 to accelerate action in reducing global emissions of methane in the food and dairy sectors. Joining DMAA is just the latest among Agropur’s efforts toward achieving a more sustainable future.
The Cooperative launched its Sustainable Farms Program in 2024, which is offered to our dairy farmer members in Canada. Through Sustainable Farms, we’re able to measure the progress of our members in terms of sustainability, support continuous improvement on the farm and promote results to our clients and consumers.
In the United States, Agropur continues to work with its milk suppliers to measure greenhouse gas emission performance and encourage the implementation of sustainable agricultural practices on the farm.
Agropur is aligned with the dairy industry’s objective of achieving net zero GHG emissions by 2050. We view each of our efforts toward sustainability and a reduction in our carbon footprint as part of our “Better Dairy. Better World.” promise.
