Agropur announces the closure of its Edmonton, AB, ice cream plant

Agropur announces the closure of our ice cream production plant in Edmonton, Alberta.

This business decision was reached as part of Agropur's ongoing efforts to optimize its operations and remain competitive in the market. This decision was not made lightly; however, it is necessary to ensure the cooperative's long term success.

Ice cream production at the Edmonton plant will be phased out over the coming months. Agropur remains committed to supplying our customers, to the best of our ability, with the products they're seeking for the 2026 summer season. The Edmonton ice cream plant primarily produces ice cream and frozen novelty products for the private-label brands of our business customers.

We understand how this will affect our employees, and we will provide support, including career transition services and continued insurance and pension benefits until the termination date, as well as payment for unused vacation.

Agropur remains present in Alberta with its fluid milk processing plant in Edmonton and its cheese manufacturing plant in Lethbridge.
