Productive year for IRECUS!

IRECUS, the research institute on co-ops and mutuals at Université de Sherbrooke, held its annual conference on June 7. Agropur is represented on the steering committee and was at the conference.

Two grants

2018-2019 was a good year for IRECUS. Among other things, it received two major grants for projects related to cooperatives.

The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRCC) awarded IRECUS a $25,000 grant to organize a joint conference on co-op entrepreneurship.

The Fonds de recherche du Québec Société et Culture (FRQSC) professorial development support program awarded IRECUS $45,000, which will be used to enhance the Co-opConvert project currently being conducted in collaboration with the University of Toronto.

Departure of Agropur’s Lorraine Bédard

The year also saw the departure of Lorraine Bédard, who had been IRECUS’s President for 9 years. She retired as Agropur’s Senior Vice-President, Legal Affairs, Member Relations and Corporate Secretary in 2018.

IRECUS is a vital forum for sharing expertise and ideas on cooperatives and mutuals, which are doing their part to help build a better world.
